The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is cracking down on rental scammers — and the timing could be an opportunity for rental agents. Prosecutors on Thursday charged a 35-year-old man with identity theft and other crimes after he allegedly duped a would-be subletter out of rent money. There were 144 transactions totaling $595 million recorded in New York City in the 24 hours before 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7. 🏆 Residential: The priciest recorded home sale in New York City on Friday, Nov. 7, was for a Greenwich Village penthouse at 40 Fifth Avenue, which sold for $19 million.
