Gail Sankarsingh, a longtime New York City luxury agent, died Friday at the age of 57. Born in Trinidad, Sankarsingh moved to New York City in 1986 as a teenager and joined Douglas Elliman in 2007. Sankarsingh built her business with prominent Manhattan new development projects, including the historic Apthorp on the Upper West Side, the Baccarat Residences in Midtown and The Centrale in Midtown East, before pivoting in recent years to focus on resales. Temple University President John Fry is eager to house more students on campus, so the school is plotting a new North Philadelphia residence hall.
While the size and exact location of the building haven’t been announced, Fry said Temple plans to issue a request for proposals regarding the project near Broad and Norris streets in the coming months.

Nearly two years after the largest single-day federal bribery takedown in the Justice Department’s history, federal prosecutors secured a perfect record on convictions. All 70 New York City Housing Authority employees swept up in a corruption sweep were convicted, Gothamist reported. Charges ranged from bribery to fraud and extortion. A vast majority of those charged pleaded guilty to felonies, though 11 pleaded guilty to misdemeanors. Only three took it to trial, all resulting in convictions.
