Zeckendorf Development and Eyal Ofer’s Global Holdings finally traded a duplex penthouse at 50 United Nations Plaza — though at a steep discount. The sale of the 9,700-square-foot apartment closed last week for $28.5 million, The Real Deal has learned. The final price is $10 million lower than the condo’s last asking price when it snagged a signed contract in August 2024. It’s also significantly less than the $70 million it sought when the developers launched sales in 2013. Adams releases Manhattan Plan, a housing toolkit for Mamdani and future mayors

With a little more than a week left in office, the Adams administration released recommendations for ramping up housing construction in Manhattan.  The mayor’s office on Monday released the so-called Manhattan Plan, laying out six “key themes” for increasing housing construction in Manhattan.  Those themes include building near transit and job centers, upzoning mid-density districts to allow more housing, building on government-owned sites, encouraging development on vacant or underutilized private sites, streamlining approval processes and exploring new models of housing.  Mayor Eric Adams first announced the Manhattan Plan during his State of the City address in January. French IT company inks 43K sf lease at Vornado’s Penn 2

Capgemini is buying a ticket to the Penn District. The Paris-based consulting and IT services firm signed a 43,000-square-foot lease at Vornado Realty Trust’s Penn 2, The Real Deal has learned. Capgemini inked a 10-year deal for part of the 22nd floor of the newly redeveloped office tower above Penn Station. The asking rent was $120 per square foot. The company will relocate its New York City offices from 79 Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron District, where the company leased the same amount of space in 2017. Southampton opens zoning door for affordable housing east of canal

Southampton is trying to rebalance the Hamptons housing map and it’s starting east of the Shinnecock Canal. The town board this month unanimously approved an affordable housing overlay district designed to push workforce housing into the area’s most expensive enclaves, where sky-high home prices have long priced out the year-round labor force. The move creates a pathway for small- to mid-sized affordable projects in places that have historically been off-limits, Newsday reported. The overlay allows developments with 10 to 35 affordable units on parcels zoned for business or single-family use, provided they receive subsidies from the town’s Community Housing Fund.  […]
